This one is kind of a toss-up. Normally I encourage people to write checks to organizations with a minimum of overhead. But since these people appear to be New Orleans residents, you would be applying money to someone in need. Are they the most needy/worthy of our money? That's the question. I'd still go with the Red Cross.

i would rather go thru red cross and the other non sectarian non government groups who have had a long experience with these cases ..
