Speaking of elitist snobs....

Were we speaking of elitist snobs????

No but I want to do a repost and add an edit (which is this post), and you will see what I am talking about. Apparently I am NOT ARTISTIC enough and TOO PERSONAL in my writing to be a member of the blog for poets, artists and writers I was asked to join (see the link above) - while I will admit what I write IS personal and I don't consider myself a poet, I DO consider myself to be somewhat of a writer (and gee doesn't that make me artistic/creative??? duh - well I guess not).

I find that a group that supposedly touts themselves as open-minded etc. seems to have a habit of being the most pretentious and snotty people I have ever encountered. I mean yeah uhm "congrats you're an artist - do some tricks for me - take a bow - OK now *I* have to go live in the REAL world - but thanks for entertaining me...."

I don't wish to trash the site - it's still good - but I am tired of elitist behaviour. And, if that's what blogging is going to become then I think I am gonna quit.

I've posted quite a bit over the past couple of days regarding linking and the "A-list"...have had alot agree with me that blogging is not a meritocracy. I've had a similar experience to you, whereby I've asked someone to cross-link, only to be told that my blog was "too personal" and "not polemic" enough. There are all sorts of snobs and hair-splitters in the blogosphere as much as there are those who want to build community. And the judgements of what is acceptable and what isn't to link to is often more subjective than objective.

Thanks Tish....

Yeah I hate this shit - and quite frankly art/poetry/writing if you ask me is ALWAYS personal - how can it be otherwise?? (good art/poetry/writing that is)- LOL how can it be TOO personal?? What this person said to me is basically a load of crap and if you look at the site it's not all THAT great. Some peices are but the C. Duffy character who made this decision is full of his own self importance as well as not all that great - when I asked why he decided to ask me to his blog in the first lace he said - he was attracted to the name of MY blog - yeah ok - well why the fuck didn't he read MY blog to see if it was too personal for his liking in the first place?

The world if full of idiots...

I absolutely abhor elitism in any form. And I think that people who have the nerve to say that a fellow writer's stuff is not in keeping with the artistic mind-set or is 'too personal' is either jealous or as said above, an idiot...whatever happened to being open minded? What ever happened to community? I guess I don't get it - nor do I care to....
