Last-ditch bid in right-to-die case
Last-ditch bid in right-to-die case
This blog is nothing if not controversial….
I know this is a very emotionally charged issue on both sides of the feeding tube. However, I have to wonder what the House Committee is thinking by attempting to subpoena a nearly ‘vegetative’ person (if she can be called a person at this point – and I know some of you are shocked by my saying that). I mean is she going to be up for the ‘grilling’ – really? What are they trying to prove here?
So at the risk of not getting a response I want to know…
What do you guys think of this? What do you think of euthanasia? What about pulling the plug? (*laughs* there is a running joke between my girlfriend and I not to let my daughter and in her case her youngest daughter into the rooms if we are on life support because they would certainly ‘unplug’ us)…that said, I hope my family knows if I am a ‘vegetable’ that it’s OK to let me go….
Just curious…let me know how YOU feel.

If I may be blunt...I think her parents are too cheap to have a professional portrait done of her, which would be about as responsive as she is. The woman basically "died" 15 years ago, she has ZERO quality of life, she's never going to get any better than this. Why should whoever's footing the bill continue to have to do so? LET HER GO!
I agree with Liam.
I am of the opinion, that If I am a veg. let me go.
To Laura:
WHOA! I did not realise that. I agree with you. If she can have nourishment she should have it - if family members WANT to feed her why stop them - in a way it's on their heads - if you know what I mean. But I would never advocate staring her like that. However, the experts are saying things like
'She can't feel things, like hunger or pain...' 'She can't recognize what's going on' - while I agree with the statement about her nervous system - her cognitive functioning is something quite different...haven't there been case of people waking up from comas and reporting that they 'heard' everything?
I mean in essence how do ANY of us REALLY know what is going on with her - the fact is we don't.
I just think that WE ALL need living wills so that when the times come our families won't have this pressure/argument/agony. I hope my family know if it ever comes to that I don't want to live that way - like dear Broomhilda said - Let me go!
> euthanasia
i think its a personal decision, moreso if the person is incapacitated to make it. im without doubt against any legislation that would criminalize it.
sadly, this is going to become a political side of fries and blown up instead of letting the poor woman pass in peace and privacy...
