Overheard

Kid on Bike: "I was like dude, California, that's my favorite city"

Neighbor Girl: "California isn't a city, it's a state."

Kid on Bike (to his friend): "Hey, is California a city or a state?"

Friend: "I don't think it's either"

(Me - thinking to myself: We really need a plague)

Yahoo Sucks. Google doesn't

Say it with me now folks. The support people at Yahoo are cretins.

One of my old accounts had been compromised. People were getting sent spam e-mail and harmful links. So being a good person, I contacted Yahoo because I could not get into the account - they had actually changed my security question and answer the whole nine yards. So the people at Yahoo sent me to their 'account verification' team. No luck. Then I got sent to their 'abuse team'. No luck. Then I had to make a phone call. The person on the phone told me to go back to the account people YET AGAIN. And, YET AGAIN I have gotten no help. Seriously. This is friggin' nuts.

Here's the letter I wrote (not that it matters) but maybe if someone else out there is having problems, chances are you are SOL. Sad to say but it seems to be true.

*********

Honestly. I have about had it with you people. I am sorry to sound so frustrated but I have to admit Google is way better than Yahoo at just about everything.

I have been sent on yet another wild goose chase about this friggin' account. You people are simply put simpletons. I don't mean to be abusive but let's try this crap one more time and then I give up. Because brilliance is simply not your strong suit.

OK.

My OLD account is *****@yahoo.com. I CAN NOT get into the account and it has been compromised and someone has been sending spam and possible harmful links from it. The account password had OBVIOUSLY been changed and I can not access. I REPEAT. I CAN NOT ACCESS and if I get one more person telling me to contact yet another Yahoo idiot service/person I am going to friggin scream. I have been sent all over the place with NO RESOLUTION to this issue.

All that I want is for *****@yahoo.com to be deleted or disabled. I no longer use the account however I was trying to do my Yahoo civic duty and help by reporting that the account had been compromised. Don't you think if I could get into the account to change the password I would???? I am not your typical monkey - I KNOW how to reset account passwords but I simply can not on this account. Now, is it possible to get some actual help or do you just simply want to admit you don't know what you are doing and can not help? Again I am sorry to be a b*tch here but this is like day 5 of this and I am getting nowhere.

I'd like some help. But I won't hold my breath.

************

So yeah...I doubt I will get anywhere - but I tried. And I realise that Yahoo could think I am simply some malicious freak trying to pull a fast one, but I am not. So hey if you know who I am and you are getting e-mail from one of my old accounts, just delete it, report it as spam and block the old address.

"The first shall be last and the last shall be first.."

I am trying (TRULY) to hold my tongue – to understand certain things – to think in terms of being a good person, being ‘christ-like’ towards others but sometimes it all escapes me and I come undone…

The other night at the suggestion of a friend, I went to a prayer/healing service at our church. Considering all that has been going on lately, I felt I needed some healing – at least the idea of someone praying over me sounded good…

The man who came to our church was great. He seemed down-to-earth and not at all ‘in your face’ about things – he truly seemed to be genuine….

HE was great….the people in the pews were the ones who made me ashamed to be Catholic/Christian…

Never have I seen such greed and nastiness.

Grant it – the way this was set up for people to have this man ‘pray over them’ was such that it was going to take a lot of time, (the church was packed) – so perhaps he’d have done well to say that it would take a lot of time – but he did tell us all to be PATIENT – you know the virtue…patience????

Anyway – there was this one particular little girl that was already getting nasty looks because she was goth, she was covered in tats and wore all black – but the thing people were missing is that she was strung out…she was trembling, she was rocking back and forth and let’s just say I know the look…not to judge – she was obviously really struggling. And I am not suggesting that she was more in need than anyone else…but she was suffering a lot. So when she saw an opening to move ahead she did – she jumped pews and sat quietly rocking back and forth….I so wanted to go hold her and tell her everything would be OK….

The people in the pews next to me and behind me did not hide their disgust and contempt – I was waiting for someone to start stoning her on the spot – and I was so disgusted by everything I was hearing about what this child did that I almost left myself (and I probably should have…)….I just could not believe how badly these people were behaving…upon second thought, I DO believe how they were acting – let’s just say I was really upset by their lack of Christian kindness and compassion….

How sad – how did people act when Jesus was going from town to town healing the sick, helping the poor? Were people being shoved aside? Did people believe that they were more worthy of a cure than their neighbor? Did they believe there was not enough ‘cure’ to go around?

Do we ever change?

Excerpt: Parents, your kids aren't that special - CNN.com

Excerpt: Parents, your kids aren't that special - CNN.com

Normally I don't always agree with conservatives - but then why label people anymore - it's not helpful and I think we are 'fed up' on both sides of the political fence.

This particular article struck a chord and a nerve with me. Mainly because I do get sick and tired of parents expecting the entire world to adore 'their little angels' when in fact the kids are devils incarnate. All kids get into mischief, all kids test the boundaries, it is up to parent to teach them manners and how to ultimately become adults. That is not to say that I want a bunch of 'Stepford Kids' running around - but there is something to be said about cultured, refined individuals and if children are not learning that from their parents, where are they expected to learn it from. I don't pretend my own kids are perfect either - my son's table manners are atrocious. So I am not by any means saying I did everything right - but I know my kids knew what would happen to them if they behaved in a truly repugnant manner in polite company.

A couple of quotes from Mr. Cafferty's article that really hit home:

"I don't know the status of parenting in America. But I know a little about the status of education in America. Parents' growing inability to impose manners and limits on their kids when the kids are in school is reflected in record dropout rates, as well as teen drug and alcohol abuse, teen sex, and unwed pregnancies. Maybe it's parenting that's on the decline, more than the schools."

And:

"Exhibit A: My wife and I have just been seated for dinner when the maitre d' walks over and seats a young family at the table next to us and the kids start carrying on like orangutans on a leash.

The parents are going, "Timmy, that's not nice, don't throw your food, stop stuffing your mashed potatoes up your nose." Are mom and dad having fun yet, picking food up off the floor, apologizing to people like us, and wiping food flung across the table off their faces?

Some parents still have this attitude that their kids are too special to be burdened by discipline. And the rest of us are supposed to put up with their little mutants. That attitude really pisses me off.

I hate to break it to them, but the kids aren't special, and I don't have to put up with their behavior. If you can't control your obnoxious little brats, leave them home.

They don't belong out in public annoying other people, period. I don't remember a generation of kids ever so indulged and enabled to behave so badly. What's going on?

I remember as a kid I was expected to behave myself out in public or suffer the wrath of one very angry father. And of all the things that used to piss him off, those expectations didn't seem unreasonable. Something's gone terribly wrong here. My guess is it has to do with the breakdown of authority, the collapse of strong family structure, and the abdication of parental responsibility, dictated in part by the necessity that both parents work.
"

So you parents out there (and you know who you are - you are the ones who get 'those' looks from us total strangers) - do the rest of us a favor - if you can not or will not make your children act as they are suppose to in polite society - keep them at home - and also refer to my last rant about school and the way your children behave their as well - in other words: Get a fucking clue.

Who would Jesus Bomb??? WTF?

To my post condemning the Israelis for bombing a UN (that's the UNITED NATIONS BTW my dear)office, thus causing a warehouse of food that was to be used for HUMANITARIAN purposes, to burst into flames, my daughter answered:

"i agree.. the ppl in Gaza are idiots, and this should end, i think the terrorists should get on their hands and knees and wash the rulers of Iserial's feet .. :)

lol.. i know i know thtas not what you meant, i think we have very diffrent oppions on this subject ;) but thats why i love you :P
"

First off my daughter, I love you too. Secondly, (and this is mainly to my friends who are Jewish) - I am not trying to open a can of worms, politically or religiously, I don't agree with Hamas' bombing of Israel, nor do I support terrorism)

BUT...

...really my dear - are the innocent children in Gaza idiots? How would you feel if someone didn't like YOUR Jesus/God and decided to BOMB YOUR CHILDREN? Or keep you from getting medicine for your baby who's sick, or keep you in refugee camps?

So my question my darling daughter - is found in the title of this post....

WHO THE FUCK WOULD JESUS BOMB???

I am afraid I have your answer....

No one.

Does it sound like a very compassionate or CHRISTIAN thing to do - bombing children? Starving them? Keeping them from medicine? *I* certainly don't think so...but hey maybe your Jesus is just that kind guy.

Weapons of Mass Confusion...

(Cross posted elsewhere...)

Lately, I have been surrounded by a lot of confusion and miscommunication. As well as just plain irritation in the form of people not living up to their end of the bargain on the service end of work I have had done.

I got my nails done for my wedding - a manicure. Turns out the tech that did the manicure was a bit hard of my nail beds and now my nails - which were actually pretty healthy before the wedding, So now they have white lines and spots all over them and they are weak like I wore fake nails.I did not notice this until I came back from my honeymoon - I mulled it over and about 2 weeks after that give or take, I decided to contact the salon and explain what happened. The owner asked me to come see her - she sounded like a frantic poodle on the phone....
So a week later I went on a Saturday to show her the damage. She looked at my nails and asked me all kinds of questions - like what products I was using (I was using their line of products), and whether I had any allergies (fair question but I have never had any allergies to nail polish etc). She brought over a nail tech who took one look at my nails and informed me it was damage from 'fake nails' (*loud buzzer*) WRONG! When I said this they brought over yet ANOTHER tech to look at my nails and she asked me the same questions. I felt like I was in a bad scene from 'Hogan's Heroes' trying to explain to the Nazi salon bimbos that I knew what I was talking about because well these were um - MY FUCKING HANDS and I have lived with my nails all my life, furthermore, I know my own body.

I left feeling put out because instead of the typical 'wow we fucked up (if only because YOU the customer who pay us thinks so) and hey we don't want to lose your business - here let's make it better)....but NO, I was informed that the owner of this salon (you know the person who gets to make all the decisions), had to talk to the tech who did the damage...um...OK.

2 weeks went by, not a word. I called three days in a row....finally the 4th day I got the owner. She said to me that she was not sure how to handle this problem other than by offering me a gift certificate....she was very upset and even sounded like *I* was putting her out by having to do this (meanwhile let me remind you my nails are now completely messed up and will be for months - they actually hurt because they keep peeling and breaking off). The owner informed me that she wished I would have come in 'right away'. Um WHAT THE FUCK? First of all can you say honeymoon? Secondly while indeed one needs to complain in a timely manner how the fuck does that repair the damage your idiot tech did to my nails????? I was so pissed off by this exchange that I wrote her a long, and rather nasty letter....

Last night in the mail I got a coupon for $25 buck - now mind you all told just for the manicures alone, I spend over $60, not to mention the hundreds I spent on my hair, my step-daughter etc for my wedding - I think it was close to like $300.00. This is bullshit....and I am really upset....

So since THIS post is running kind of long - I will post yet another about my Yoga experience because karmically I think I just burned a bridge but I don't really care at this point and that's not a good thing...

When yoga harms rather than heals - Fitness - MSNBC.com

When yoga harms rather than heals - Fitness - MSNBC.com

This was sent to me by Liam who thought of me (I am worried now that he thinks poorly of me as a teacher.)

At any rate I do have a very strong opinion about this subject and (no pun intended) it is a sore subject for me...

There seems is a frenzy in the fitness industry to churn out Yoga teachers (I am guessing because of the Yoga 'craze'). First of all the word yoga and craze should never be in the same sentence. PERIOD. Secondly, churning out anything as if it were a factory is wrong. But especially so when it comes to Yoga. You can't make a Yoga teacher in 6-weekend session classes. Not at all. To me at least - it takes YEARS to make a Yoga teacher. I have been studying Yoga since I was 17 years old - and while most people do not take on a life-long study the way I did, all that aside, it took me 2.5 years to train to become a Yoga teacher. The 6 months were spent 'student teaching'. I had to read over 20 books, take countless hours of classes, theorum, anatomy, physiology, ethics, philosophy, nutrition, psychology, AND practicum - I had a very, very intensive training not some 'learn Yoga in your spare time' bullshit. I was drilled over and over about the importance of keeping students safe, and the HARM NONE (Ahimsa) philosophy. I was not allowed to teach until my teachers (gurus) felt *I* was ready. All in all it was a journey - not a lark.

Now to teach and tell - something I don't want to really do but in defense of my colleagues I feel I must.

People/Students are idiots. Not all of them certainly - but a lot of them. If I had a nickle for every time a student didn't listen, or was way too eager to get that 'Yoga butt', or to achieve a perfect pose, or to compete - I would not have to teach. I have taught literally hundreds of students. For the most part I adored my students but let me give you an example of how horribly awry things can go for us on the teaching end of the classroom. Before I beginning this 'tirade' I want to let you know that as Yoga teachers one of the first things we are taught to ask our students is if they have any problems or injuries we need to be aware of in order to help them in class. In Yoga Journal magazine there is a cartoon ad for insurance that depicts a Yoga teacher asking a class full of students with bandaged heads and on crutches who all shout out they have no problems...yeah go figure - it's why we need to carry millions of dollars worth of insurance.

When you take any physical class you should come prepared. This means wearing proper clothes and perhaps bringing proper equipment. When I taught I sent e-mails to my students beforehand or spoke with them on the phone explaining what they needed to wear and bring to class. So imagine my surprise when I had a student (with whom I had had this conversation), show up in 'street clothes' (she was dressed for work in a professional office), heels, and as her Yoga mat she decided to use her winter coat (which was constructed of that slippery microfiber crap) - in essence this was a recipe for injury and as her TEACHER I politely told her she needed to remove her shoes and NOT use her coat - instead since we had indoor/outdoor non-skid carpeting in the room she would need to go without the mat for that session.

The very next day, I resent her the e-mail I send all students telling them how to prepare for class - I also said I would being extra mats just in case she needed one.

The next session this same student showed up STILL dressed inappropriately for class and this time her Yoga 'mat' was a garbage bag. I gave her a Yoga mat and took away her garbage bag. After class was over I asked her to stay so I oculd speak to her - I told her she needed to follow instructions not because I am a control freak but for her own SAFETY. I was nice but firm. She never showed up for class again (thank Shiva). Did this make me happy? No, I wanted the student in class - but more so I wanted her safe and I wanted her not to set a bad example for the other students. As a teacher I NEED to make sure above all my students are OK/safe - then comes enjoyment and helping them achieve their goals as Yoga practitioners.

There are, I am sure, a lot of stories like this on both sides of the Yoga fence. I just felt the need to place mine out there in the universe and try to perhaps initiate some understanding between students and teachers so perhaps injuries become something that never takes place in classes anywhere ever again (wishful thinking but so be it).

Namaste,
C~

A conversation....

(..that actually took place - recorded for posterity apparently...)

I am home sick today with Anthrax Mu (gotta love Mr. Anton Wilson - may he rest in peace)...

Anyhow I was up half the night - I have (in my humble opinion and well since I happen to live in my own body more than 70% of the time I am thinking my opinion about said body's state is dead on...) bronchitis...

My chest is tight (no comments from the peanuts in the gallery), I can't really breathe and when I do I am wheezing - I have a cough that is unproductive and I am stuffed up and miserable - I feel in essence like I am dying...

So I took off work and I called my doctor's office. I did not get through to my doctor's office - instead I got put through to 'Nurse on call'...so I begin the conversation:

'Hi, my name is C...' (I regurgitate my symptoms - since I used to work in health care I know how to describe what's wrong - I then ask to be seen)

The NOC: 'Well the phone systems here are not working and that is why you got me - several doctors are on vacation so I don't know if you can be seen - however they may call something in for you - let ask you several questions....

'Are you having problems breathing?'
(duh - to which I responded yes and I told her that I had just told her I was wheezing)

'Is your tongue swollen?'
(um...if my tongue were swollen COULD I indeed have an understandable conversation?)

'Do you have a rash?'
(did I say I had a fucking rash?)

She begins giving me nursely advice - and tells me that perhaps a doctor will see me, perhaps not, and perhaps they will call something in for me - or not...

WHAT.THE.FUCK.

Look I know I am grumpy and bitchy (OK so moreso when I am sick) - but I also know I am smarter than the average bear...I know how to tick off my symptoms to both a doctor AND a nurse on call....do you think they just have a set of inane questions they ask so they can stall for time.

(Hello nurse, I am bleeding very badly from a wound what should I do? Well...is your tongue swollen?)

Fucktards...

So...needless to say I just ran out in the pouring rain to get that Mucinex-it-tastes-like-shit-so-you-won't-question-it's-effectiveness medicine as directed. And of course as Murhpy's law predicts, as I walk in the door from being out in the flood, I get a phone call saying the substitute doctor has called in antibiotics for me because they are worried this could turn into pneumonia - great - and I feel so much like shite that I don't have the strength to go back out...

That 'Calgon take me away' crap should have been Valium take me away (perhaps it was and they just couldn't advertise it...)...

Geez....

Just an FYI

(To no one in particular...per se...)

Civil Anti-stalking order: In Ohio, "menacing by stalking" is illegal. It is defined as a sustained pattern of knowingly causing mental distress to another person or threatening them with violence. If an order of this type is violated the result can be a contempt of court action resulting in fines and/or jail time.

You know...

In thinking about things – especially Ken Y’s propensity towards being a total asshole – I have to laugh.

You’d think by now people who were jealous, obsessed etc. would have found themselves a life (hell even my former ex has found his life again). But no, people like this seem to thrive on making not just their own lives miserable but on trying to make others miserable as well. Pitiable, but what can you say – it is what it is…

I would have once said this was surprising behaviour but no longer. I guess I always thought Mr. Younos was smarter – but that was a mask/myth whatever. Despite his pitiful attempts at trying to cause problems, wish me/my love ill – I hope that one day he find happiness – for we all deserve happiness in our lives. Perhaps one day a love will come into his life (love of another, love of self, love of something greater than him) and it will soften him, help him. Unless of course instead the only thing he ends up facing is a reckoning...as we all do at times.

At any rate nothing (and no one) is going to keep me from being happy, from loving Erin, my life, from writing, from being me.

WTF? (Part 1,234,567)

What. The. Fuck.

OK so here in Cleveburg we find out there is a winter storm a coming....fine. I am assuming that the people at ODOT get the same news/weather that we do unless there is some kind of news/weather blackout for them.....

So how come when they have literally all night and all day BEFORE the fucking storm hits full force, are the roads not even touched??? No salt/de-icer, no plowing, nothing. It was rush hour traffic yesterday; actually people were leaving work early because they were all so freaked out about the storm - not a single crew on the road. Despite this - things seemed to be going well on the road (or at least on the stretch of road I was travelling down); everyone was taking their time when suddenly, the road crews descended - THEY HAD BEEN SITTING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD - (Waiting for what? The Bat Signal?) - they then decide to MERGE with traffic and suddenly we were all reduced to going 5 miles per hour - a trip that normally takes me 25-35 minutes took me two hours....

This is a constant complaint amongst the people of Cleveburg that I speak to who have to drive - where the hell are the crews when they know this is coming? Why aren't the major interstates passable? Is there some special doughnut shop where they and the city police all hang out while crime runs rampant and storms do their worst?

WTF?????

Vapidity Abounds...

OK.

I just can’t take it anymore….I really can’t.

I so want to scream – and as I ‘think’ these thoughts I wonder…does that make me a bad person?

The tow women I work with in the office are simply put – simple. While I am not knocking simpletons – I cringe at times when I listen to the conversations.

For instance for the past week I have had to listen to the spoiled woman I work with talk about how her ‘baby’ is going to kindergarten and she is upset with the choice of teacher. I am horrified by the things she is saying – NOT because the teacher is a bad teacher but because of the way the other mothers (her included) have become judge and jury for this poor teacher = so because this isn’t the ‘hippest’ teacher, because this isn’t the ‘perfect’ teacher – she is no on a campaign to change her son’s kindergarten teacher. She is so completely obsessed with this it is all she ever talks about….she is driving us nuts (her husband as well by her own admission).

Today she came in and began a conversation AGAIN about this. I turned away. Then she began to discuss the movie she watched the night before – her choices in TV programming always border on the banal and of course it was one of those ‘Lifetime’-let’s make-women-feel-important’-special type of movies about intrigue, murder, a woman being ‘framed for said murder and then somehow managing to become her own private detective and clearing her name (meanwhile, back in the land of ‘REALITY’ you and I all know we’d be in jail for the murder…right or wrong). So my co-worker is actually fascinated with this story and feeds into the nurses neurosis like a good slave. She says: ‘Wow that sounds like a Gershwin novel’.

A GERSHWIN NOVEL???????

Um….the American COMPOSERS George & Ira????? They wrote novels too????

*mutters something akin to obscenities*

God/dess help me….save me from stupidity. I am sorry – really I am – like I said – I just can’t take it anymore….if it makes me rude, so be it…..
